Three young and emerging bands stage multifaceted UK jazz: Alex Hitchcock Quartet, Azamiah and Emma Rawicz INKYRA, performing one set each. From 11 p.m. on the stage will be opened for other artists during the jam session.

Azamiah consists of INDIA BLUE (vocals), Norman Villeroux (bass) and Alex Palmer (drums). Primed to be the next group from the UK jazz underground to break out, they draw on jazz roots while touching on everything from James Blake’s production techniques to dubby low-end, taking the listener on a journey across moody and light landscapes. Emma Rawicz INKYRA is a thrilling new project by saxophonist Emma Rawicz. She has drawn on her wide range of musical influences and inspirations from genres as varied as rock, fusion, singer-songwriter music all blended with her stylistic home of modern jazz resulting in an entirely unique set of new music. The INKYRA music is full of effortlessly singable melodies, with hard-hitting grooves that capture fans of a wide range of genres. It features blistering solos and virtuosic improvisation from each member of the band - flute, guitar, keyboard/synths, electric bass and drums, each musician being a highly respected figure on the UK scene. Collective improvisation grows out of infectious grooves, and this band is unafraid to push the boundaries of every genre they draw upon, with the adventurous creative spirit characteristic of all of Emma’s music.
